TURN—The Utility Reform Network

Support for Legislation

CHALLENGE

TURN wanted to add their support to AB2316 (Ward) and SB1020 (Laird) as the bills moved through the California Legislature, and then for signature in front of the Governor. We had a limited budget and a short timeline, so our tactics needed to be thoughtful and strategic.

APPROACH

We crafted a tightly targeted, branded digital campaign, which pointed the audience to an action page on the TURN website. Once there, supporters could sign a pre-written email. The emails were then automatically forwarded to the office of each author in order to become part of the author’s persuasion package. After the bills had the support of the Legislature, the action shifted slightly to focus on the Governor’s support.
