Community Advocacy Project

CHALLENGE

A neighborhood was opposing an extremely well-funded development. They could not match the developer’s financial support or influence sphere, and the project had already garnered the support of most of the city leaders.

APPROACH

We crafted a unified message which galvanized disparate perspectives and designed a toolkit shared with allies (including maps/graphs, press responses, and a fact sheet). We identified a road map for persuasive outreach, then designed and managed a mail program with a focused digital campaign. In addition, we crafted the graphic resources for the final presentation (PowerPoint and a companion handout) with strategically designed talking points for presenters and an outreach package that inspired community engagement. With the right tools and focus, our client successfully outworked and out-performed their opposition, and was ultimately successful in a contest where they had universally been perceived as an ill-equipped underdog.

“four waters media helped our community become galvanized, focused, and strategic. We worked collaboratively to create our messaging platform, which was then amplified through mail, a digital campaign, and of course, our community voices. Our campaign was as professionally presented, we remained focused and avoided missteps, and we won…. Sometimes David does beat Goliath.”
